ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – MoDOT is asking drivers to be patient.  This weekend’s snow event is expected to continue into Sunday.  MoDOT did not pre-treat the interstates for this storm.  A spokesperson said there was no pre-treating because there were salt and chemicals still on the ground from the previous storm.

Workers will plow and drop rock salt, sand, a cinder mix, beet juice and salt brine.  Supervisor Mike Froppe says the sand and cinder mix will help give drivers traction of there is icing.

He said the dark color of the cinder mix should help hold heat.   MoDOT suggests checking its travel map before heading out.
