GLEN CARBON, IL (KPLR) - Elise Eckles was running errands when she went to Valvoline in Glen Carbon to get her oil changed.  She says the guys opened the hood and a kitten popped its head out and started running around scared.

The technicians caught the kitten and put it in a box. Eckles took the kitten to Hawthorne Animal Hospital right around the corner in Glen Carbon to be checked out by a veterinarian. The only injury the cat suffered was a bloody nose.  Eckles then took the cat to the Metro East Humane Society and that's where the cat is being held for 2-6 weeks before the kitten will be ready to adopt.

Eckles didn't hand the kitten over though without naming it first.  Her father came up with the name Lucky because the kitten is lucky to be alive. But she feels fortunate to have found the kitten before it was seriously injured.
