Suspect in Shaw neighborhood homicide arrested in Kentucky

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR)- A suspect wanted by St. Louis police in connection to an early Sunday morning homicide has been arrested in Kentucky. Between 1:30-2:30am Sunday, two men were arguing in the back of a car in the 5500 block of Lindell. The victim, Jhonny Pavon, 35, was shot in the chest by 27-year-old Melkis Oreyana.

According to police, Pavon’s body was found 4000 block of De Tonty Street around 2:45am. The vehicle the two had been in was later found in the 4800 block of S. Broadway.

St. Louis Police went to the 3300 block of Iowa in an attempt to locate Oreyana. SWAT team was called to the scene to enter the home in question, but no one was inside.

On Monday morning, Oreyana was taken into custody without incident in Louisa, Kentucky by the Kentucky Highway Patrol.

The Circuit Attorney’s Office issued has issued warrants for Murder 1st and Armed Criminal against Oreyana.
