ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – The St. Louis County Police continue to express the need to hire more minority officers. Out of its 800 officers just 85 are African-American. The events of Ferguson have brought the issue of minority representation on police forces into the national spotlight. The county’s recruitment officer Kevin Minor says some of the challenges start with finding qualified applicants and a historic lack of trust in certain communities.
