Family of 9 burned out of home

FERGUSON, MO (KPLR) – A Ferguson family of nine is homeless Monday night because of a house fire.

The fire happened Sunday night at a home on Lagonda Avenue is not related to the recent unrest in Ferguson.  Fire officials say it appears the blaze started in a rear bedroom and quickly spread throughout the home.  The father of the family suffered a minor burn on his hand and was treated at the scene.  The three adults and six children got out safely because of a smoke detector.

The cause is not known but it is believed to accidental.  The American Red Cross is assisting the family and putting them up in a hotel.
