JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO (KPLR) – A nurse who recently arrived back from Liberia helping to fight the Ebola outbreak in West Africa has been released from Mercy Hospital in Jefferson County.

The nurse had tested negative for the Ebola virus after falling ill earlier this week and checked herself into Mercy Hospital as a precaution.

The Jefferson County Health Department and Mercy Hospital isolated the nurse during her stay at the hospital. Officials say the nurse has had no contact with patients at the hospital.

Officials will continue to monitor her health for the next 21-days as recommended by the CDC for travelers returning from West Africa.
