Homicide rate on the rise in St. Louis city

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- The homicide total for the City of St. Louis is on the rise again. The latest victim is a teenager who was shot and killed Wednesday night near Etzel Avenue, between Page and Skinker.

The latest murder was the second homicide in just over 18 hours. Authorities say the victim is a 17-year-old young man who was shot in the head.

Neighbors in the area heard gunshots, came outside and found the teen shot on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene. At this point, police do not have a motive or suspects.

That murder happened after DeShon Moore, 20, was found shot to death inside of a car around 3a.m. Wednesday on Park Lane.

Police say Moore had gunshot wounds to his chest and neck.

Authorities say the SUV that Moore`s body was found in was reported stolen from  Richmond Heights on Friday, November 14th.

There are no suspects at this time.

Police say there is no connection between the killings.

The city now has 132 homicides this year.

According the police website, last year there were 120 homicides, and 113in 2012.

The homicide total reach 144 in 2010.
