Rauner, a Republican, has already named members of his transition team, including two Democrats, former White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley and former congressman and SIU president Glenn Poshard.
On Friday, he announced that Mike Zolnierowicz will serve as his gubernatorial chief of staff.
Gov.-Elect Bruce Rauner said, “I am in for the whole state. I’ve been here in southwest Illinois a lot in this campaign. I love this region. I’ve been here a lot as a campaigner. I’m going to be here a lot as governor. And I’m going to do something pretty unusual, not since Jim Edgar. I’m going to move to Springfield, live in the governor’s residence, and make sure the government is run for the entire state.”
Governor-elect Rauner also spoke of making sure that Medicaid is a well run program and that taxpayers are getting real value for their money.
