Greenfield, MA (WSHM) — A Springfield woman who state police say was speeding on Interstate 91 with a 2-month-old infant in the vehicle was caught with 1,000 bags of heroin.

It was about 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday when a trooper from the Shelburne Falls Barracks stopped a Toyota Camry after the driver, later identified as 26-year-old Nia F. Moore-Bush, committed motor vehicle violations.

During the traffic stop, the trooper learned that Moore-Bush was unlicensed and two other troopers subsequently responded as backup. Further investigation revealed that Moore-Bush was in possession of 320 grams of suspected heroin.

Moore-Bush was charged with trafficking heroin, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding, according to state police.

The Department of Children and Families was contacted concerning the infant, and later took custody of the child.

Moore-Bush was taken to the Franklin County House of Correction pending her arraignment in Greenfield District Court on Wednesday morning.
