(KTVI) – A grand jury now has until January 7th to decide if there is enough evidence to criminally charge Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson with Michael Brown’s death.

According to our partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the extension of the grand jurors’ term of duty does not necessarily mean the job will take that long.

On September 10th, a circuit judge asked for the full extension allowed by law.

Police say Wilson struggled with brown and that during the incident; brown was killed by Wilson’s shots.

Some witnesses claimed Brown was surrendering when he died.

Others say Brown was charging Wilson.
