WATERLOO, IL (KPLR) – A crime spree in two quiet parts of Waterloo, IL has some residents changing their ways.  More than 20 vehicles were targeted. Thieves took money, and in one case a purse.  Police say the vehicles were left unlocked.

“Everything was kind of pulled out, and my wife’s purse was taken,” said John Moore.  He recently moved into the neighborhood and was one of the victims.

“It looked like they were just in a hurry and grabbing whatever they could grab,” said Moore.

Police say victims live in the Vanderbrook and Sunset Acres neighborhoods.  Unlocked vehicles were entered on Cody Drive, Summerfield Drive and Shamrock Drive.  The crimes happened during this past weekend.  Some victims never suspected crime would hit in such a quiet neighborhood.

“It can happen anywhere,” said Jerry Nichols, another victim.  “It doesn’t matter where you live.”

Waterloo Police want any other victims to contact the department at 618-939-3377.
