(KPLR)- Know before you go: traffic signals on the Hanley road overpass over I-64/40 will be on flashing red on Wednesday while St. Louis County Highways and Traffic workers remove and replace a damaged signals mast arm. The work is expected to create significant delays and drivers are encouraged to avoid the area between 9:00am and 3:30pm.

Drivers in both directions will have to stop twice as they make their way across the Hanley Road overpass.

Between 33,000 and 39,000 motorists use Hanley between Clayton and Manchester roads on a typical day. Drivers are encouraged to use either Big Bend or Brentwood as alternatives.

The damaged mast arm was struck by a vehicle two weeks ago.
