Police shoot murder suspect making an escape in East St. Louis

EAST ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - Illinois State Police are investigating after East St. Louis Police shoot two people. Captain Jim Morrisey says when the officers approached a car parked at 29th and State street, the driver backed up striking two pedestrians, then drove forward hitting several vehicles, including a squad car. When he drove towards police, they opened fire. The driver and passenger were injured, both were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver is wanted on out of state warrants. No word on charges.

Investigators say none of the injuries is life threatening.
