(KTVI) – Get in the record books and learn how to swim at the same time.

Pool instructors all over the world will be busy during the World’s Largest Swim Lesson. The event, also known as WLSL, holds the Guiness World record for the largest simultaneous swimming lesson with 32,450 participants in 432 facilities in 13 countries.

Ruthie Zarren from the Little Fishes Swim School, an official host location for the event, said the lesson may be just one day. But, this day could be lifesaving. She says drowning is the leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1 to 5 years old. It is the second leading cause for accidental death for children under 14. However, she says participation in formal swimming lessons can cut that risk by 88% for kids ages 1 to 4.
