Cop punches woman involved in fight during gay pridefest

PITTSBURGH, PA (KPLR) – A prideful occasion in Pittsburgh quickly changes into a violent situation. This cell phone video captures the moment when a Pittsburgh police officer punches a woman at the city's gay pride festival this past weekend.

The officer, Souroth Chatterji, says he was trying to break up a fight between a woman and parade protesters.

When he grabbed a twenty-two year old woman by the head and punched her so he could take her into custody.

The woman then reportedly fought back--kicking him in his groin.

She faces assault charges and resisting arrest.

The cop has since been put on desk duty while officials look into the incident.
