(KPLR)-The Cardinals may be out of town, but you can still take in an All-Star game at Busch Stadium on Sunday. Thirty-two St. Louis-area high school baseball players will take part in the 2014 Delta Dental High School All-Star Baseball Game on Sunday, June 8.
Gate 3 opens to the public at 10:30 a.m., A Homerun Derby will take place at 11 a.m. followed by the first pitch at noon. The game is free and open to the public.
Each of the chosen athletes is a graduating senior from a public high school in St. Louis City and St. Louis County and was pre-selected by their school’s coaching staff. They each sign a tobacco-free pledge and advocate for no-smoking and no-chewing lifestyle choices.
The “All-Star Blue Team” will be coached by former Cardinals third baseman Scott Cooper, who played high school baseball for Pattonville. Former Cardinal and Hazelwood East grad Kerry Robinson, will coach the opposing “All-Star Green Team.”
As part of a Tobacco-Free Nation campaign, Delta Dental will also be raising funds through specially priced St. Louis Cardinals tickets. Purchase specially priced Loge tickets, and a portion of the ticket cost benefits three local charities - Delta Dental Health Theatre, Give Kids A Smile, and Cardinals Care.
