ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - A St. Louis County judge denied a bond reduction of a man suspected of violently torturing and raping women. Adam Capriglione, 29, appeared in court Friday on 19 charges including sodomy, forcible rape, assault and sexual exploitation of a child.
His attorney, Joseph Green, asked the judge to reduce his bond and change the conditions of his detention. The bond was denied but the judge will give Capriglione more access to his attorney and allow him access to a computer to evidence related to his case.
Capriglione allegedly victimized five women he met online. Investigators say Capriglione would start a relationship with the women but then the relationship would turn violent. Authorities say Capriglione held the women against their will inside his South County apartment.
He`s accused of hitting one victim with a mallet, burning her and cutting her. Another charge accuses Capriglione of choking a woman, covering her face with saran wrap, and burning her leg with a hot knife. The case broke when one victim went to a medical facility and police were contacted.
He is currently being held in Clayton on a $500,000 cash only bond.
