ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – Police across Missouri are poised to start cracking down on drivers and passengers in vehicles for not wearing seat belts.

The crackdown started Monday to get Missouri drivers and passengers in vehicles to wear seat belts, with an aggressive “Click it or Ticket it” campaign. The campaign will last through June 1st.

Police say only 80% of Missourians use seat belts, with the teens and pick-up drivers being the worst offenders when it comes to wearing seat belts.

Nationally, some 86% of vehicle occupants use their seat belts.
