(KTVI)- The man. The myth. The legend…at least when it comes to eating competitions. Joey Chestnut was in St. Louis this weekend sizing up his competition. A qualifier for the Nathan’s Famous annual Fourth of July International Hot Dog-Eating Contest was held at Busch Stadium Saturday.
Chestnut watched over the 10-minute, all-you-can-eat contest and also threw out the first pitch before Saturday’s game against the Braves.
The top male and top female finishers earned a spot to compete in the finals at the original Nathan’s Famous in Brooklyn, NY.
Joey Chestnut set the world record by eating 69 Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs and Buns in 10 minutes in 2013. He will seek his eighth straight title this year.
