CLAYTON, MO (KPLR) – There was no party for the kick off to “Parties in the Park” of Clayton, that's because Mother Nature wasn't cooperating. The parties occur every second Wednesday of every month between May and September. It's been taking place for 31 years where the streets get blocked off, bands play music and local business men and women enjoy a cold beverage with their friends.

The event draws in big business not just from locals, but from area communities as well. It hurts Clayton’s businesses bottom line, bartenders and wait staffs wallet having to cancel such a big event we're anywhere from 2,000-5,000 people show up.

The next “Parties in the Park” is scheduled for June 11th and it will feature the band Odds Line. Admission is free and open to the public and lasts from 5 pm-8:30 pm.
