Illinois law could give wolves, and cougars, and bears protected status

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Wolves, and cougars, and bears... oh my! Those animals would be given protected status under an Illinois bill working its way through the legislature.

The measure would still allow landowners and tenants to kill the animals if they pose a threat. Supporters say the legislation is needed because gray wolves, black bears and cougars are moving into Illinois.
