ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – Two women were shot Monday afternoon in north St. Louis and that led an area technical college to be place on locked down. Just after 1:00pm, police were called to the 4500 block of McMillian for a fight involving several women in the middle of the street.
As officers approached, the call was upgraded to a shooting. When they arrived, they discovered two women, one 20-year old and one 30-year old, with gunshot wounds to their torsos. The victims were taken to the hospital where they are listed in serious but stable condition.
An investigation revealed that a man in a dark colored SUV fired gunshots at the victims. That SUV was last seen traveling west on McMillian. The investigation is ongoing.
Because of the shooting, Ranken Technical College was briefly put on lock-down. A security guard at the school heard the shots and made the decision to lock down the school.
Lockdown status has ended. Police have secured the off-campus area where the incident occurred. It is now safe to move freely on campus.—
