Zoo receives $1.5 million donation

ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – The St. Louis Zoo Wednesday received a $1.5. million dollar donations from the Saigh Foundation. The gift will be used to fund the zoo’s Director of Education program.

The Saigh Foundation has been a major contributor to the zoo for many years having donated $1.7 million for a curators position at the Children’s Zoon seven years ago, and $250,000 to the wildlife conservation school 12 years ago.

The foundation is named for Fred Saigh, a Springfield, Illinois resident who dieid in 1999. He was an attorney and former owner of the St. Louis Cardinals.
