Four new members to be added to Cardinals’ Hall of Fame

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - It was a daddy-daughter decision when it came to a hall of fame vote for the Rhodes family.

"Me and my daughter voted for Jim Edmonds and Willie McGhee. One for her and one for me." said Cardinal Fan Dennis Rhodes.

The two stopped by the Cardinals hall of fame inside Ballpark Village on Monday. They got a glimpse of the 22 plaques that make up the inaugural hall of fame class at the museum inside Cardinal Nation. But, before Monday's day game, the redbirds announced the four new members that will be enshrined August 16th.

The committee, made up of sports writers, including our own Martin Kilcoyne, came up with eight names to be inducted into the new hall. Fans voted for their favorites, Willie McGhee and Jim Edmunds. the organization choose Mike Shannon for his four decades in the broadcast booth and the red ribbon committee made their pick for Marty Marion.

The induction will take place August 16th as part of hall of fame weekend, a new annual event that the team will make a big deal out of.

"It's really interesting to see like our whole Cardinal's Nation and all of the players before my time." said Cardinal Fan Emily Rhodes.
