Arnold Knights of Columbus still holding fish frys despite storm damage

(KTVI)– An Arnold Knights of Columbus has not allowed storm damage from holding fish fries.  The Arnold K of C comes to the aid of local parishes, food pantries and other charities. Customers at Friday evening’s fish fry were surprised they were able to dine in the Knights of Columbus hall.  Customer Bill Glasgow said, “I thought they were going to just bulldoze the place. It just looked so bad. I didn’t think it would come back.”

When a storm rolled through February 20th, winds peeled back the roof.  Renters in the upstairs part of the structure were forced out. But the Knights of Columbus downstairs were still able to host the first fish fry 2 weeks later. Although business was slow at first it soon picked up. K of C member Bobby Hayes said, “We’re having a real good year this year.”  Member Vince Selders added, “Once they saw us rolling, it snowballed and they really came out in droves.”

But, without the rent money from upstairs, they’re concerned they may not have as much money to give to charities.  Selders said, “We will find a way to help out, if not financially, we’ll come out there and personally do what we have to do.”

Meanwhile that one storm keeps causing problems.  When there are heavy rains there’s flooding in the hall.  Members just clean it up and keep the fish fry going strong.  They plan to begin a monthly barbeque in May to raise more funds to help others.
