SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – Weekend plans in south St. Louis County could be tripped up with some traffic tie-ups.
The Missouri Department of Transportation is doing preventative maintenance work on the Jefferson Barracks Bridge.
Two lanes of eastbound Interstate 255 will be shut down at 7:00pm Friday. Only one lane will be available across the bridge as crews replace joints on the bridge.
This affects drivers heading from south St. Louis County to Illinois.
All westbound lanes will stay open.
Crews have tried to do this work in the past, but the tough winter weather forced workers to delay their plans.
Drivers should consider using Interstate 64 and 55 to travel across the Mississippi during the work.
They hope to have all their work completed by 5:00am Monday.
