Man struck while trying to cross I-70 in St. Charles County

LAKE ST LOUIS, MO (KTVI) –A man was hit by a car trying to cross Interstate 70 between Lake St. Louis Boulevard and Bryan Road, just outside of O’Fallon. The accident happened a little before 9:30am.

Traffic on I-70 eastbound was jammed for some time aspolice tried to piece together what happened.

All of the lanes were opened by 11:00am and traffic was flowing smoothly again.

The windshield of the car that hit the man was shattered. Police say the woman driving hat car stopped right away.

The victim’s shoe was found on the side of the road.

Investigators say for some reason the man in his late teens or early 20s tried to cross I-70 eastbound when he was hit by a Grand Prix.

Authorities on the scene say they had several witnesses tell them the woman who was driving the car did nothing wrong and could not avoid the man.

Police allowed her to drive away and said there is nothing criminal here.

As for the man who was hit, he was rushed to a hospital unconscious with serious injuries.

Police shut down two of three lanes on I-70 eastbound in the area for about an hour while police investigated the scene.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation.

    Really! What was he bipolar or just stupid. People be careful use common sense or borrow some common sense. He was not apparently paying attention. I bet he will learn now. I do hope he recovers however.
