ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department announced Tuesday they will take over police operations at Lambert International Airport.

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson told FOX 2 the department change will take effect on July 1, 2014. He met with Lambert employees Tuesday.

A tweet from Mayor Slay’s Chief of Staff Jeff Rainford stated the work for the transition starts Tuesday.

This comes after Airport Police Chief Paul Mason announced his retirement last week.
