Illinois lawmaker proposes cell-phone “kill switches”
SPRINGFIELD, Il. (KPLR) – An Illinois lawmaker filed a bill that would require cell phones sold or purchased in Illinois to have a “kill switch”.
The goal is to prevent people from using lost or stolen phones. The bill would also prohibit phone providers and manufacturers from charging extra fees for the service.
Former St. Louis University volleyball player, Megan Boken was shot to death for her cell phone during a robbery in the Central West End on August 18 2012.
