(KTVI) – Drivers could hit delays this week if they use the Chain of Rocks Bridge to come into Missouri. Those delays will come because of lane closures starting at 9 a.m. The closures are in the westbound lanes.
The shutdowns will begin on the Canal Bridge. The Illinois Department of Transportation says beginning at 9 a.m. crews will shut down one lane of Westbound on I-270 from the Chain or Rocks Canal to the Mississippi River.
The lane will reopen by 5 p.m. Monday. That same 9 to 5 closure is expected to continue all week until Friday. IDOT says the closures are needed to repair the existing pavement on the bridge.
There are two lanes going westbound. IDOT is urging drivers to be careful through the work zone. Authorities say traffic will be guided through flaggers, traffic control devices and traffic control signs.
