(KPLR) – A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 27th for a Columbia firefighter killed in the line of duty Saturday.

Lieutenant Bruce Britt was a 23-year veteran of the department, and was helping to evacuate residents from an apartment complex operated by the University of Missouri, when a second story walk-way collapsed.

No students were hurt in the accident.

The memorial service will be at the Crossing Church in Columbia Thursday morning at 10 am.

City leaders have ordered flags in the city to be flown at half-staff for the next 30 days in his memory.
