(KPLR) – A powerful cold front and deep low pressure system are swirling across the bi-state region Thursday. Winds gusted to 58 mph in the Springfield, Missouri, area around noon.
As the front slices into the St. Louis area around evening rush hour, our winds could gust to 50 mph, along with a brief period of scattered showers and thunderstorms.
A slight risk of severe thunderstorms lingers into early Thursday evening.
Behind the powerful front, colder and drier air will surge into the region. Look for afternoon highs around 65-70, and night lows chilling to 30 overnight.
Friday, high pressure returns with sunshine and highs in the 50s.
