(KTVI) – Officials with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, or DESE, will make recommendations in Jefferson City to help improve failing school districts Tuesday.

They have been considering six proposed plans.

Among the proposals is continuing the current plan of allowing students in unaccredited districts to transfer to other districts. Another plan would allow students to transfer to better schools within their own district. And yet, another idea would abolish districts and let schools become independent.
