ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - It could cost a little more to ride Metro transit soon.  That's because officials are considering a rate hike.

The Metro Board of Directors will reveal details of three different plans during a meeting Tuesday morning.  The public will have an opportunity for input.

Option #1 increases the Metrolink cash fare:
Cash fare from $2.25 to $2.50
Weekly pass from $25 to $26
Monthly pass from $72 to $80
Semester pass from $150 to $165

The plans would apply to all Metrolink trains and Metro buses.

Metro says the plan that is chosen will spread out the increase among all riders.  They say minorities, the disabled, and low income customers won't be squeezed by the increase more than anyone else.

More than 53,000 people ride Metro buses and trains every day.
