(KPLR) – St. Louis area hospitals are busy treating patients who slipped and fell on icy pavements Monday morning. This morning's freezing rain left sidewalks and parking lots very slick.

By mid-afternoon, doctors and nurses at St. Louis University Hospital had treated nearly a dozen patients for slips and falls.

Three were admitted for severe injuries, including bleeding on the brain, fractured ribs and a collapsed lung.
