Possible freezing rain could snarl Monday morning commute
ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – Another quick moving clipper system is zipping into the St. Louis area this evening that has just enough energy ahead of this system to squeeze out a couple very quick bursts of snow flurries, and sleet, mainly south of St. Louis.
Freezing rain may develop after midnight and continue off and on to mid Monday morning.
Temperatures will remain nearly steady through the night, only dropping a few degrees to near 26° by morning.
MoDOT crews will be out overnight Sunday treating area roads and interstates with salt, salt brine and beet juice to help keep roads from freezing over before Monday morning’s rush hour. Road crews are expecting the worst of the weather to be in St. Charles, North St. Louis County and the northern part of the City of St. Louis.
Officials are asking the public to delay travel Monday morning if possible.
