CHAMPAIGN, Il. (KPLR) – University of Illinois Police discovered $80,000 of marijuana Thursday night.

Investigators suspect three men were involved in marijuana sales on-campus. Authorities found 21 pounds of pot in their apartment.

“When you have 43,000 students,” said police Captain Ron Acree. “Some of them choose to partake in marijuana and that’s by far our biggest drug issue on campus is cannabis.”

“I know people sell drugs and stuff like that around here,” said university student Joshua Pearson. “But nothing to that extent, to that extreme. That sounds like something out of a movie. Eighty-thousand dollars worth of marijuana? That’s a lot.”

Officials believe there is more marijuana throughout the campus and are continuing to investigate.
