ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – The need for assistance to pay heating bills for the winter of 2013-2014 is greater than last year’s heating season. Heat-Up St. Louis has seen the demand for its services increase 29% over the 2012-2013 winter.
Heat-Up St. Louis’s mission to help those unable to their heating bills, has put a strain on this year’s funding, due to this winter’s extreme cold weather. Since the beginning of winter, nearly $500,000 has been committed to keep people in their homes warm and safe from this season bitter cold.
But the need for assistance is growing, and the St. Louis City Director of Health Pamela Walker is appealing to the public to help those less fortunate, and donate to Heat-Up St. Louis.
For those in need of assistance in to pay heating bills, call Heat-Up St. Louis at 314-241-7558 or log onto www.heatupstlouis.org.
