YMCA of Greater St. Louis & Southwest Illinois to merge

ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – The Boards of Directors of the YMCA of Greater St. Louis and the YMCA of Southwest Illinois have announced the merging both organizations. The merger is set to take effect on March 1, 2014. The new name for the organization will be the Gateway Region YMCA.

Gateway Region YMCA will consist of 23 branches, with more than 200,000 members, serving over 700,000 youths and adults through various programs and services.

The reach of the new YMCA will include: St. Louis City and seven Missouri counties including St. Louis, St. Charles, Jefferson, Franklin, Washington, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, as well as St. Clair, Madison, Monroe, Randolph, Clinton and Marion counties in southwestern Illinois.
