New trees to stand in Soulard this Mardi Gras season

Money from the annual Mayor’s Mardi Gras Ball could help beautify a neighborhood just south of Downtown St. Louis

Mayor Francis Slay and the Mardi Gras Foundation host the ball each year, which raises funds for community grants.

Some of the money will be used to plant 160 new trees in the Soulard neighborhood.

There will be a ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday in Soulard.

The Mardi Gras Foundation has provided more than $300,000 in grants to Downtown and Soulard in the previous ten years.
