ST. LOUIS (KPLR) - A puppy is alive thanks to firefighters' efforts after they rescued it at 9 a.m. from a drainage pipe located at Union Boulevard and Enright Avenue. A St. Louis Fire Department official said the owner of the puppy was walking another dog on a leash when the puppy fell into a drainage pipe located on a sidewalk that was not covered properly.

Firefighters had to lower a noose down a 26 foot deep pipe to get it around the body of the puppy, and pull it to freedom.

The puppy suffered no injuries, and was given back to its owner.
