SALT LAKE CITY, UT (CNN) - A couple who underwent artificial insemination at a Utah clinic finds out twenty years later, the husband's sperm had been switched with someone else's.

After a difficult search, the couple found out who their daughter's biological father was, and that part of the story is even more jaw dropping.

Chris Jones has all the details.

CeCe Moore, Genetic Genealogist: It's very often someone writes to meand they've discovered their father is not their father. It's not usually as extreme as this, but it's a very common discovery.

Pam: Every time I go to those darker thoughts there’s a part of me that says if this didn't happen we wouldn't have her. And having her outweighs all of this. I would do this a thousand times over to have her as the end result.

Their daughter Annie is a healthy and happy 21-year-old.

After a lot of research it was determined Annie’s biological father was Tom Lippert, a convicted felon working at the clinic.

He served time for kidnapping a college student and locking her in a box, long before his arrival in Utah.

He died in 1999.

The family worried there are more kids like Annie who were fathered by Tom Lippert.
