(KPLR)-The clock is ticking for St. Louis street crews who are tackling major potholes around town. The goal is to get them filled in by Monday morning’s commute.

It was one heck of a week for the city’s streets: a foot of snow last Sunday, subzero temperatures to follow, and all the while snow plow blades scraping and salt pouring over the top.  And then, to add insult to injury, we had all that rain Friday, something that actually makes a pothole grow faster.

It has created yet another job for city road crews who spent about two man hours per truck, converting plow brigades into pothole patrols to hit the roads.  They waited until Sunday because the patching material works better on dry pavement.  Crews plan to knock out major arteries Sunday, and are trying to fill any pothole reported by the public within forty eight hours.

Now they’re asking for your help to lead them to the potholes needing repair. Call the Citizens’ Service Bureau at 314-622-4800. You can also send them a written complaint at www.stlouis-mo.gov or send a tweet on Twitter to @stlcsb.

If you see a pothole on a state of Missouri maintained road, call MoDOT at 888-ASK MODOT (888-275-6636). In Illinois, report pot holes on state highways by calling 800-452-4368.
