Some districts cancel classes, others opt to open Thursday despite snow

(KTVI) – Many districts planned to have class Thursday morning.  But then, it started snowing.

The Valley Park School District welcomed students back to class. Rockwood District families geared up to send their kids to school. Wednesday, officials warned parents that school buses might be late picking up students for Thursday classes. That all changed around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, when officials told students to stay home.

Road conditions went downhill overnight. Side streets were still a mess across the metro area.

Rockwood kids got a few more snow days the week before, because almost two-dozen buses would not start in the severe cold.

Kirkwood tweeted early Thursday that they would be in session.
