ST. CLAIR COUNTY, IL (KTVI)– This storm has made us all miserable. But folks in St. Clair County are more miserable than most. They got much more snow than anywhere else in the metro area, 15 inches of snow to be precise. And crews at the St. Clair County Highway Department have literally been working day and night to clean it up.
The biggest problem with this much snow is the wind. Plows clear roads and the wind immediately covers them back up. But St. Clair County crews have battled on, despite well over a foot of snow and treacherous road conditions. Those conditions caused an elderly driver`s car to skid and flip over Monday afternoon on Highway 157 in St. Clair County.
And despite a high temperature Monday around zero, the crews have kept at it. So the roads should be slick, but clear for cars Tuesday morning.
