Mizzou beats Oklahoma State 41-31 in Cotton Bowl
(KTVI)–The Missouri Tigers beat Oklahoma State 41-31 in the 78th Cotton Bowl Classic in Dallas, Texas Friday night.
The game ends the season for the Tigers.
It’s called the Cotton Bowl Classic, but for the most part this was not a classic.
Mizzou had a hard time catching the ball. James Franklin struggled. But all that will be forgotten because of a wild 4th quarter set the stage for what will be remembered as a classic finish for Mizzou.
Maty Mauk in at quarterback for Mizzou and he hooks up with Markus Lucas. A perfect throw for 24 yards. 14-7 Tigers.
They led by ten at the half.
Tied in the 4th quarter, Henry Josey cuts to daylight from 25 yards out. 24-17 Tigers.
After OSU tied it, they get a pick six. Tyler Patmon picks off James Franklin’s pass, returns it for the score, but wait, pass interference nullifies the pick six. Huge call takes the touchdown off the board.
Just over 3 minutes to go, Missouri trailing when it’s Josey again, the junior from Texas, this time 16 yard run. This was his third touchdown. 34-31 Tigers on top
Buttime left and OSU driving on a 3rd down. Michael Sam, the hit, ball is looseand Shane Ray scoops it and goes on a 73 yard return. That will seal the deal.
The Tiger’s defense makes the play to end it.
Mizzou with a 12th win, tying the school record. And based on the teams that have lost in bowl games the Tigers should wind up ranked in the top 5 in the country. I’d call that a successful season.
