(KTVI) – The New Year’s storm left the area Thursday morning.  It also left behind nasty roads and flight cancellations.

Officials from the Missouri Department of Transportation said they saw very few incidents overnight and none Thursday morning.

Crews were on the roads Wednesday night with plows moving snow as soon as the white stuff hit the ground.  But, the snow fell pretty fast.  Crews worked to keep snow and ice from piling up on interstates.

City workers pretreated the main roads in North St. Louis Wednesday afternoon, while temperatures were still in the 40s.

Drivers may want to leave for their destinations early Thursday.  Also, leaving late could give crews time to clear the roads.

Lambert International Airport announced that airlines cancelled several early morning flights to and from Chicago, Cleveland, New York, Washington D.C. and Newark.

Keep an eye on the MoDOT and Lambert websites to plan your car and air trips.
