New Year’s Snow: 2 to 5 inches expected overnight

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the St. Louis area.

A snow storm is expected to track into the area Wednesday evening with snowfall lasting into the early-morning hours on Thursday.

Meteorologist Chris Higgins expects the storm to start in the area sometime between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. as a sloppy, wet snow.   The heaviest snow will be from 11 p.m. through about 4 a.m.

The storm will taper off with flurries by sunrise Thursday.  Total accumulations are expected to be between 2 to 5 inches, depending on where you live.  Most people will see about four inches.  The storm will bring with it gusty winds and cold temperatures.
