Fire guts Obama Meat Market; owner vows to rebuild
(KTVI) – A 2-alarm fire destroyed a north St. Louis business, but the owner says he will rebuild.
Fire crews responded to the blaze around 5 a.m. Monday morning at the Obama Meat Market in the 2000 block of Grand.
Flames could been seen shooting from the windows and the roof when fire crews arrived on the scene.
The market is owned by Obama Shalabi. According to a 2012 St. Louis Magazine article, Shalabi came to the U.S. from Jerusalem and opened the market four years ago. This is the store’s second fire.
