BRIDGETON, MO (KTVI) – At Lambert International Airport Thursday night, a Trenton, Illinois family turned out in force to welcome Army Corporal Matt Westbrook home.

Matt, 25, hasn’t been home in two years.

His daughter, Leighton, was born while he was overseas.

His wife and baby moved to Germany, where he’s stationed now, after serving nine months in Afghanistan.

It took two connecting flights and almost 26 hours to make it back to St. Louis. They had no idea the entire family would be waiting.

The family waited almost four hours just to run into Matt’s arms.
